June 2012 Screenprinting Workshop with Holding Pattern

We probably get more emails about this than anything else! So, we're super excited that
Mike and Brian of Holding Pattern are back with their AWESOME SCREENPRINTING
WORKSHOP (click here, here, and here to see it in action.)

Students will leave with the know-how and tools to screenprint as soon as they go home.
This workshop will include in-depth instruction on how to prep & burn a screen
and then supervised printing at your own printing stations. Holding pattern will
provide a pre-burned screen for the workshop, but students will still have the option to
have a custom screen (which Holding Pattern will burn for you in advance) for you for
an additional $40 (if you are interested in this, after you've registered, please email us
at info@weare1976.com because we will need to get a digital artfile from you in advance.)

Carve Your Own Rubber Stamp Workshop

Learn how to transfer you very own image onto a block, then to carve it yourself with
paper artists and screenprinter Shamsy Roomiani. After carving, we will ink them up
to print on a variety of papers. Use your stamps over and over!

Terrarium Workshop is Back!

A few weeks ago we had our first Terrarium Workshop with Tish. It was so much fun and
we've had a ton of requests to do it again! So we got another one set up, guys!

Hope y'all can Join Tish Brewer of Buckethead + Bear on Thursday night, April 5th at 6:30pm
to create your own DIY Terrarium, your own world in a jar. You'll receive everything you need
to create a take-home mini ecosystem. Terrarium care is easy, no green thumb needed.
Once the plants become established inside the container, the terrarium recirculates most of
its moisture and requires only occasional misting. Don't fret, you'll go home with instructions
in addition to your new eco accessory!

Chinese New Year Red Envelope Workshop

In case you don't know already, Chinese New Year falls on Monday, January 23rd
this year. One of the most basic and generous traditions is the giving and receiving
of Red Envelopes from the older generation to the younger generation filled with
"lucky money" which signifies prosperity for the new year. So, we thought it would
be a fun way to start the new year with a workshop for making your own red envelopes
and lucky money.

Please join us on Saturday, Jan 21st 2012 at 11am for our Red Envelope Workshop.
We'll provide all materials and supplies, including a wooden Japanese envelope template
and cow bone folder (that you can take home afterwards), a screenprinting station with
pre-burned designs that you can use to decorate your envelope, and a quick lesson on
how to fold an origami heart to fill the envelope. As usual, we'll have some light munchies
and drinkies. So, come out and hang with us and make some fun presents for Chinese
New Year.

Long Stitch Bookbinding with Tish Brewer on November 10th

Learn to sew a groovy long stitch book with slotted spine in this upcoming workshop
on Thursday, November 10th at 6:30 with Tish Brewer. This historical soft cover book
is ideal for journaling, sketching, or note-taking. The non-adhesive binding allows for
easy carrying, flat opening, and lots of variations in appearance. You'll leave the class
with a complete book, and the fancy exposed sewing will have you wowing everyone
with your skills.

Buttonhole Stitch Bookbinding Workshop

Book Lamp Workshop with Tish Brewer

Please join us on Thursday, February 24th for a workshop with Tish Brewer, (who also
taught the super fun Paper Sculpture, Paper Marbling and Jacob's Ladder Workshop) for
a FAN-FOLDED PAPER LAMP WORKSHOP! We were at Tish's studio a few weeks ago
and saw this light hanging in her space and immediately asked her to teach this workshop.
So gorgeous upclose and would look perfect above a dining table or in a cozy reading nook.
