Cannot tell you how much I enjoyed this stop frame video from Canadian Art Director
Sean Ohlenkamp. Magical and charming video of books coming to life after you turn
off the lights.

First color down.
It's been a year in the making and we still have a lot of planning and work to do, but we
cannot be more excited. We're in the process of figuring out all the details of getting our
two letterpresses into and running in our shop! When we started this, had no idea how
challenging it would be to not only find a press, but to move it! We're now the very excited
and proud owners of a Challenge Proof Press and a Vandercook 325A!!! The goal is to
get some letterpress workshops in here as soon as possible (hopefully in a few months)
after we've figured out all the kinks!
In the meantime, we've been busy getting as familiar as possible with the maintenance
and possibilities that these beautiful presses are capable of. Just this past week, we
were down in Austin with the awesome Meredith of Punch Press and made our first print
for the shop!

Shamsy's home studio. At her desk.
Hello! We have a whole bunch of new workshops this spring for the next few weeks,
including another Terrarium workshop with Tish Brewer and a Screenprinting workshop
with Holding Pattern (we'll have specific details of that out very soon, we're going through
the waiting list first)!
We're really excited that one of our most popular stationary makers, Shamsy Roomiani,
will be teaching a new series of workshops at our shop! Shamsy is a really talented
paper artists and screenprinter - she oozes creativity AND is sooo nice. We stopped
by her studio and got a chance to check out her studio and we're excited about her
new workshops with us!

Such a great idea - she uses vintage children's books to create journals.

Go to Uncommon Objects. Every corner is a treat for eyes. Seriously, whoever does the styling and
staging has so much talent.
Was in down in Austin for a super short trip this weekend. (Hoping to share more details
of that soon, but has some something to do with letterpress!) Anyway, here are some
quick snaps of our time there. Aside from the traffic, really love exploring Austin. There's
always something new.

Blue skies all weekend.

Giant safety pins from the first stall at Uncommon Objects.

"Favorite new experience." Great little Vietnamese cafe on Lamar.

Everything about Elizabeth's is so sharp. Great decor, ambiance, service, FOOD, design, logo.. everything.

Curry Mussels, Cauliflower, parsley, chili pepper, and steamed rice. The perfect bite.

ShopKid and Jully. You know how we love jumpy pics.
It's really cool when all of Dallas gets together to celebrate their city. This weekend, we
headed down to the STUNNING new world-class Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge designed by
superstar Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava for the bridge opening celebrations.
Food trucks, fireworks, live music... Heart you Dallas.

Perfect styling and store display at the FANTASTIC Mystery Mister on Haight.
It's not like we need a lot of excuses (1,2,3) to hit up San Francisco, but the $99 specials
from Virgin didn't hurt (before I keep going, gotta give them props for their excellent customer
service and creative thinking - they seriously making flying feel romantic and special again.)
Anyways, here's a little glimpse into an fantastic weekend of miles AND MILES of walking,
great food, and gorgeous scenery everywhere in one of my favorite cities. Also, didn't get
pictures, but dinner at Commonwealth in the Mission is worth the more than an hour wait
for a table - tapas style, very creative pairings, and a really nice staff.

Cinnamonbun size dumplings (they're famous for them) from the seriously delicious U-Lee in Nobb Hill.

Tailoring rainbow

Coo coo clock and cockroach man.

Dang. Why don't we make buildings and homes like this anymore?

Amazing light pendent/sculpture from the terrific Four Barrel in the Mission. If you like good coffee,
I'd say this place is one of best. And, just from a business standpoint, these guys run a seamless operation.
