What Do We Do?
Established in 2009 (originally on Henderson Avenue in East Dallas), our family business has grown from a design gift shop and gallery for independent designers and artisans to include a graphic design and letterpress studio for bespoke design, print work, and creative workshops.
It is our goal to make and put a thoughtful and carefully considered collection of useable, lovable, affordable, design-oriented, beautifully made, cute-attack worthy prints, cards, jewelry, books, homewares from independent local and international makers and artisans into the hands of everyone who desires it. Whether you're looking for something for yourself or a gift for a dear person in your life, we would love to help.
Why Our Name?
1976 was a year of revolutionary change. Apple threw open the doors of imagination, Tiananmen Square launched a reverie of freedom, and we were born. Now all grown up we celebrate the cultural revolution that was born in the year of our birth. WE ARE 1976 is the declaration of freedom from rigid boundaries, so that art is not just paint on a canvas; humanity is not regional but global; the earth is not just where we live, but our source of life; life is serious, but also precious and should be lived with joy, passion, a giant wink of humor, and a great deal of thoughtfulness. It is with this thoughtfulness that we choose every item and creative offering in our shop and studio. Every item in our shop has a story and we would love to share those tidbits with you.
